What Amazon says has changed
AWS CEO Matt Garman says Amazon has stopped using nondisclosure agreements with government agencies on its data center projects. His October 2 post frames the change as part of an effort to engage communities earlier and more openly. TechCrunch reported the statement the next day while examining resistance to new data centers.
The post does not say when the NDA practice ended or describe every earlier agreement. Garman also defends data centers’ environmental and economic effects, but those company claims are distinct from independent measurements and from the narrower assertion about government confidentiality agreements.
