Anthropic OSS Scanner timeline
Anthropic launched OSS Scanner on October 8 as a free, opt-in vulnerability-finding service for open-source maintainers. Enrolled projects can receive periodic scans from the company’s strongest models. Reports include a possible exploit demonstration, an explanation and a suggested fix when available. Anthropic says these reports are sent without human review, so maintainers must triage them and may encounter inaccurate findings or severity ratings. The service is part of the broader Anthropic Cyber Mission, which also announced a critical-infrastructure defense program.
