Biohub Virtual Biology Initiative expansion timeline
Biohub says its expanded Virtual Biology Initiative brings together $1.8 billion in funding, previously developed datasets, computing and measurement work. Google DeepMind, Isomorphic Labs and Meta are committing $300 million; the Department of Energy plans more than $500 million over five years. The National Institutes of Health will coordinate datasets built with over $500 million in earlier federal investment, and Biohub’s own $500 million commitment dates to April. The partners aim to make AI-ready biological data available to researchers. Reuters says commercial funders may receive temporary preferred access to some data before public release. No predictive biology model or complete open dataset was announced as already delivered.
