Governors discuss a shared approach
In an October 1 Associated Press interview syndicated by the Orange County Register, Maryland Governor Wes Moore said he is forming a bipartisan group of governors to develop an AI framework. Moore said Indiana’s Republican Governor Mike Braun would partner with him and that other governors from both parties planned to take part. Moore is chair of the National Governors Association.
A plan, not a rule
The report records Moore’s intention and his criticism of federal inaction. It does not describe a completed framework, a list of all participating governors or a binding policy adopted by the group. State executive orders and other AI measures mentioned in the AP report are separate existing actions; they should not be mistaken for the proposed governors’ framework.
