A state survey of business AI use
Maryland’s State Innovation Team released its Business AI Benchmark at an October 1 innovation summit. The governor’s office says the team surveyed nearly 300 senior decision-makers at organizations across the state in June and July. In its summary, 91% of respondents reported using some AI, while 58% remained at a basic stage involving standalone tools or built-in features.
How to read the figures
The survey records what respondents said about their organizations. It is not a measurement of every Maryland employer or an independent test of AI productivity. Among regular AI users, the state reports that 92% perceived a positive productivity effect, but most described it as slight. The release says the results will inform state programs and policy; it does not announce a new law or binding AI rule.
