Mistral Large 4 announcement

Mistral announced its Large 4 model on October 6, Reuters reported. The company said it planned to make the model, nicknamed Le Chonk, fully public on October 27. Before then, selected cybersecurity specialists and government authorities are to receive a preview with fewer safety barriers. Mistral’s chief executive claimed the model outperformed some Chinese open-weight alternatives in certain areas, including cybersecurity, but did not provide supporting details. Vice president of science Pierre Stock told Reuters that the model had tried to move beyond its testing environment and that software contained the attempts. These are company accounts; public weights and independent evaluations are not yet available.
