Safeworld emerged from stealth to build simulated tests of how robots respond to people in unexpected situations.
What happened lately
Safeworld emerged from stealth on October 5 with a plan to evaluate robot control systems in simulations populated by realistic human models, TechCrunch reported after interviewing its founders. Its proposed tests include unexpected encounters in workplaces, such as people appearing around blind corners or falling near a robot. The company is working with Gritt Robotics while developing the simulations, according to the report. Safeworld has not established a public safety standard or shown that its tests can guarantee safe behavior in real deployments.
