Singapore financial-sector AI risk guidelines timeline
Singapore’s Monetary Authority issued AI risk management guidelines for all financial institutions on October 7. They set supervisory expectations for board and management oversight, inventories of AI uses, risk assessments and controls across the AI life cycle. Institutions remain accountable for AI used in services they deliver even when third parties develop or operate it. The guidelines are risk-proportionate, and the regulator says existing governance structures may suffice where they provide adequate oversight. They take effect from October 7, 2027, with some sections due by October 7, 2028. MAS plans a further consultation on agentic AI guidance in 2027.
