What the order changes

President Donald Trump signed “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence” on September 29. It directs executive departments and agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports and other non-statutory documents, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

What the terminology means here

For implementation, the order uses the technologies already covered by the statutory definition of artificial intelligence in 15 USC 9401(3). It does not require rewriting previously issued regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants or historical documents.

The order asks the president’s science and technology adviser to submit proposed legislative language within 60 days. That request is a future policy step, not an enacted change to the statute. Renaming these systems also does not establish a technical breakthrough in their capabilities.
