Manus parent says it raised more than $500 million

Butterfly Effect says Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the completed round, with Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund participating; it did not disclose a valuation.

Why now CNBC reported the company's announcement on October 8 at 06:32 UTC, after the financing was completed.

A completed round for Manus’s parent

Butterfly Effect, the company behind the Manus AI agent, says it has completed a financing round of more than $500 million, CNBC reported on October 8. The company named Boyu Capital and IDG Capital as lead investors and said Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund also participated. The amount is the company’s account of a completed raise, rather than a target for a future round. CNBC reported the announcement after an earlier proposed acquisition by Meta had fallen through amid Chinese regulatory scrutiny.

Valuation remains undisclosed

Butterfly Effect did not disclose the valuation attached to the new financing. An earlier media report about a possible $4 billion valuation concerned expectations while a deal was being discussed; it is not a confirmed price for this completed round. The reported investor list and proceeds show renewed financial backing for Manus, but they do not establish a final post-money valuation or reveal the round’s detailed terms. That distinction is important because a large capital raise and a company’s market value are different measures, and the former cannot be used to calculate the latter without further terms.
