Google’s Agent Development Kit for Java lets developers define agent behavior, tool use and orchestration in code. It is an application framework, rather than a model or a plugin for a coding assistant. The English documentation provides Maven coordinates for the core library and a separate development interface, and identifies the project license as Apache 2.0.

Version 1.12.0 adds Gemini context-cache support, experimental workflow graph types and an optional restriction on local MCP servers declared in agent configuration. Its context-caching sample requires Java 17 or newer, Maven 3.9 or newer, and credentials for the Gemini API or Vertex AI. Model inference and cache storage depend on the selected backend and its billing; the framework’s license does not make those services free.
