InDesign Nutria MCP is a standalone community server launched by an MCP host such as Claude Desktop or OpenCode. It operates a local Adobe InDesign application through a UXP panel or a platform-specific bridge. It is not an Adobe product or a model provider.
The MIT-licensed project requires Node.js 18 or newer, lists InDesign 2022 or newer and documents source installation through cloning, installing dependencies and building. It is not currently published as an npm package. The model account belongs to the host; the server does not replace the local InDesign requirement.
Version 1.5.0 adds an optional per-call document name or index so document-scoped operations can target a specific open file. Omitting it keeps front-document behavior. The maintainer reports live testing on plugin-free macOS with InDesign 2026, while explicitly distinguishing Windows COM unit coverage from a live Windows run. Tools can modify and save files; custom script execution has no cancellation, and closing defaults to not saving.
