Octomind timeline
Octomind is a standalone AI agent client that lets a selected model use MCP tools to read and edit files, run commands and search code. The runtime can serve interactive sessions, piped tasks, background daemons, WebSocket clients and ACP integrations. Models, roles, tool permissions, guardrails and budgets are configured through TOML.
The English version 0.58.1 documentation provides an install script for macOS and Linux and a Cargo installation route requiring Rust 1.95 or newer. Model access can use an Octomind Cloud subscription or the user’s own provider credentials, including providers such as OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI and DeepSeek. The Apache 2.0 software license does not make hosted inference free. Version 0.58.1, published October 15, 2026, adds visibility and stop controls for background MCP tasks, with polling and tool-registration fixes.
