Unmute timeline

Unmute is an MIT-licensed voice-agent compiler, not a model provider or a coding-agent plugin. Users define prompts, models, tools and call state in a package, then compile for a supported target. LiveKit and Pipecat version 2 projects share unmute-core call logic; SLNG and Twilio use their own runtimes with different feature support.

The documented installation routes include macOS Homebrew, Windows Scoop, Linux release archives and Go 1.26 or newer. Generated projects need the chosen runtime, provider credentials and hosting. The default browser quickstart uses OpenAI and SLNG keys and microphone permission. Local Python tool handlers run application code; provider costs and permissions depend on configuration.
