WhatsApp MCP

WhatsApp MCP links a personal WhatsApp account to a server in the owner’s Cloudflare account, then exposes chat listing, message retrieval and full-text search to Claude Code, Claude Desktop or another compatible MCP host. It cannot send messages. Media appears as labels and captions rather than downloaded files or transcriptions.

The MIT-licensed project requires Node.js 20 or later and currently documents Workers Paid hosting. Setup involves cloning the repository, installing dependencies, creating an OAuth KV namespace, setting an owner password, deploying and pairing the phone. One Durable Object stores messages and live account credentials; each deployment is for one person. The host supplies the model account and receives requested message results. The unofficial Baileys connection uses WhatsApp Web’s protocol, which the README says is against WhatsApp’s terms.
