TechCrunch reported on November 2 that The New York Times sued Brave in federal court in Manhattan over alleged scraping and distribution of copyrighted content. The Daily News, Chicago Tribune and Orlando Sentinel brought a separate similar lawsuit, according to the report.
The Times seeks an injunction and damages. These are reported allegations and requests for relief, not a court finding that Brave or its named AI customers infringed copyright. TechCrunch said Brave had not immediately responded to its request for comment.
