Musk says SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI, with no date for the change
Musk agreed to rename SpaceX's AI unit using the term Super Intelligence, but Reuters found no account change or implementation timeline.
A public promise, not a completed rename
Elon Musk said he would rename SpaceX’s AI unit from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, Reuters reported on October 4. In response to an X user’s question about the name, he wrote, “Yes, we will make that change.” Reuters linked the proposed initials to President Donald Trump’s push to use “Super Intelligence” in place of “artificial intelligence.” At the time Reuters published its report, the SpaceXAI X account had not been renamed. Musk gave no date for the change or further details about what it would cover.
What remains open
The announcement establishes Musk’s intention, not that a legal entity, product, website or account has already changed names. Reuters said SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to its request for comment. The planned branding move is separate from the White House’s new Super Intelligence Force and its earlier terminology directive for federal agencies. There is no reported change to SpaceX’s AI products, model access or governance in Musk’s brief reply. Any completed rename will need separate verification when the company makes it visible.
