Xreal prices Aura Android XR glasses from $1,279 and opens limited preorders
Existing deposit holders can order the Gemini-enabled glasses now; Xreal says general orders and first shipments will follow, without a firm shipping date.
Price and restricted orders
Xreal announced on October 7 that its Aura glasses will start at $1,279 for a compute-puck configuration with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage. A 16GB and 512GB option costs $1,499. Xreal says preorders are currently limited to people who had already paid a reservation deposit; everyone else can reserve a place, with general orders planned in the coming weeks. The company says initial shipments will begin soon in the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea, but it has not provided a firm delivery date. Other markets are planned for 2027. These dates are company plans, not completed deliveries.
Gemini in a split-compute design
The see-through glasses connect by cable to a separate puck running Android XR. Xreal says the system combines Google’s Gemini assistant, Google Play apps and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, while the glasses provide a 70-degree field of view and hand tracking. Engadget reported that it had found the visuals sharp and bright in an earlier hands-on test, but that observation does not verify the final retail hardware or Gemini’s performance in daily use. The new development is confirmed pricing and access for existing reservation holders, not a general retail release or evidence that all advertised AI features work as described.
