Cai timeline

Cai is a native macOS action layer that opens with Option-C. Users can run reusable prompts, shell scripts and connector actions, or let an MCP-compatible coding agent propose new actions for approval. Its tagged README specifies macOS 14 or later, Accessibility permission and an application running outside App Sandbox. The built-in MLX AI engine requires Apple Silicon.

Version 1.7.1 makes Today accessible after version 1.7.0 accidentally hid its interface in development-only builds. Today runs an installed, signed-in Claude Code with a dedicated skill to read selected connected tools and produce a ranked work brief. The list and user state stay on the Mac, while reading uses Claude Code and connected services. That feature is distinct from Cai’s locally executed reusable actions.
