CUGA timeline

CUGA, short for Configurable Generalist Agent, is an Apache-2.0 harness for connecting model endpoints to business tools and workflows. It supports MCP, OpenAPI and Python tools, with a management interface and Python SDK. It is a separate application framework, not a GLM model or a plugin for a terminal coding agent.

The documented installation uses Python 3.12, uv and configured model credentials. Private deployment requires configuring the model, connectors and optional services inside the intended boundary; selecting local storage alone does not make hosted inference private. Approval gates and enabled ToolGuards can constrain applicable actions, while playbooks supply guidance.

IBM’s November 3 comparison reports 73 of 90 AppWorld tasks passed with CUGA and GLM-5.3-flash. Different competing configurations and the limited sample constrain that result; policies were not tested in those runs.
