Franklin timeline

Franklin is a standalone agent harness, rather than a model provider or an extension for another coding agent. BlockRun’s documentation describes research, trading and other tasks with model routing, tool execution and spending controls. The CLI requires Node.js 20.19 or newer and installs through npm install -g @blockrun/franklin; npx @blockrun/franklin is the documented alternative to a global installation.

Free models require neither a wallet nor an API key. Paid models and tools use a funded USDC wallet through x402 or a prepaid BlockRun account and API key. The software’s Apache-2.0 license does not make paid inference or tools free. The project documents approved trade plans even in trust mode, a --max-spend ceiling and lifecycle hooks that can veto paid actions. These are the project’s documented controls, not an independent assurance of payment safety.
