Heretic

Heretic is a community command-line tool that modifies existing language models without conventional training. Its optimizer combines contrasting prompts, a selected modifier and one or more scoring objectives. Version 2.0 defaults to Arbitrary-Rank Ablation while retaining classic directional abliteration.

The author supplies configurations aimed at refusal suppression, reduced formulaic writing, reduced sycophancy and other behavioral changes. These are attributed objectives rather than universal quality guarantees. Processing requires a compatible model and sufficient local resources. The Python package requires Python 3.10 or later and PyTorch 2.6 or later. Heretic uses AGPL-3.0-or-later licensing; 1.x configuration files require migration for 2.x.
