Transformers Model Integration Contracts
Hugging Face's proposed testing format combining small frozen model fixtures, executable Markdown usage paths and human-reviewed output baselines.

Transformers Model Integration Contracts timeline
A Model Integration Contract packages a fixture built by shrinking a real checkpoint’s configuration, a runnable usage example and reviewed expected outputs. Tokenizer and processor files are preserved unchanged. The aim is a cheap regression signal on CPU before a change merges, while full checkpoints remain necessary for integration testing.
The tmic CLI can draft contracts through an LLM, build fixtures and record baselines for human review. The documented local-only workflow stops before upload, but drafting uses Hugging Face Inference Providers billed to the user’s account. As documented on November 2, 2026, Transformers’ contracts job reports failures without blocking pull requests. Passing a small fixture does not certify the real model.
