Mana's eight-prompt Figma clone sparks a feature-parity debate

Mana's founder shared a public Figma-style editor and says Claude Opus 5.5 built it in eight prompts, while the build report lists important missing features.

Eight prompts, with a platform underneath

Mana’s founder posted a Figma-style editor called Figma Next to Hacker News on October 12, saying Claude Opus 5.5 built it in eight prompts. The linked English report dates the build session to October 9 and says Claude spent about two hours and 53 minutes working across a four-hour-and-19-minute session. It describes frames, auto layout, components, vector editing, prototyping, multiplayer cursors and export. A public view-only editor is linked from the report. The timing and implementation account come from Mana, not an independent reconstruction of the session.

Where the Figma comparison stops

Mana says its platform already supplied sign-in, storage, hosting, file sharing, collaboration and an assistant with access to design files. The report credits Claude with the editor’s core React logic, but explicitly lists missing variants, component properties, styles, variables, mixed formatting within a text box and some prototype behavior. Its performance figures compare its original SVG renderer with its replacement tile engine on the same test machine; they do not compare Figma’s performance. Hacker News commenters questioned the feature-parity framing and whether the code could be inspected. The demo is a striking builder showcase, but the claim that it matches a mature design platform remains unverified.
