Why now Conductor announced the move on November 4, 2026. Its dated transition schedule gives existing cloud users a concrete export deadline; this is an acquisition and service transition, not the promised future interface launch.

Meta has acquired Conductor, and its cloud workspaces now have an export deadline. The company’s November 4 announcement says Conductor Cloud will go read-only on November 13 and shut down on November 20, when deletion of cloud user data will begin. Existing users should export before that date.

Conductor is the interface for coordinating coding agents across separate workspaces, rather than a new model developer. Its acquisition announcement promises something new early next year but does not describe a finished replacement. TechCrunch reports that Meta confirmed the acquisition; the article does not disclose a deal price.

What changes for existing users

The transition starts immediately: new users can no longer sign up or download the app. Existing free users cannot upgrade, while existing pro users can continue using pro features for free, according to the company’s timeline.

November 13 is the earlier operational cutoff. Cloud users will still be able to read old chats and export data, but they will no longer be able to send new messages. The company says active subscribers will receive refunds.

Local Conductor has a different timetable. The team says it will continue receiving new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027. It also says it has built a way to transfer cloud workspaces to local. That gives users a migration route, without promising that every future Meta product will preserve the current workflow.

The November 4 changelog gives the practical steps: right-click a cloud workspace and choose Transfer to local to move it and its chats to a Mac. For a download of all account data, use Settings → Account → Export data.

An established product changes hands

The original announcement dates Conductor’s product launch to July 2025. November 4 is the acquisition announcement and the start of its transition, not Conductor’s first release.

For developers using agents as persistent project workspaces, the immediate issue is where their chats and work live after the cloud service closes. The team’s plans for a new interface remain forward-looking; the export and read-only dates are the concrete changes users can act on now.
