Wuu adds ChatGPT sign-in and single-file plugins to its Mac agent desktop
The open-source agent desktop's November 2 release adds direct ChatGPT authorization, account-aware connections and TypeScript plugins, alongside dictation and interrupted-task recovery.
Wuu’s latest Mac release makes its agent desktop easier to connect and extend: direct ChatGPT sign-in joins single-file TypeScript plugins, account-aware model connections and recovery of interrupted tasks. Version v2026.11.2 was published on November 2 at 19:49:54 UTC. The release also lists macOS dictation with a live waveform, headless workspace connections over SSH and shared browser and Computer Use capabilities for external engines.
Wuu is an MIT-licensed desktop application and coding-agent harness. Its workflow puts a conversation beside local files, a terminal, a browser and a Git diff review panel. Users can connect model providers to Wuu’s own engine or run another coding agent as the conversation engine. Those are different arrangements: connecting a DeepSeek API account supplies a model service, while selecting an external agent uses that program’s authentication and tools.
ChatGPT login without the Codex CLI
According to the versioned connection guide, the new ChatGPT flow opens an authorization page in the system browser and returns through a local callback. It does not require the Codex CLI. Users explicitly authorize plan usage and select a model from the account’s live catalog. That registration remains separate from an API-key connection or reuse of an existing local Codex login.
The guide says OAuth credentials are kept in macOS Keychain, with no plaintext fallback on unsupported hosts. It also says the direct ChatGPT connection does not yet expose a separate remote plan-quota reading. API prices should therefore not be treated as a subscription allowance, and an account’s available models still depend on its access. Wuu’s open-source license does not include third-party model usage.
A plugin-friendly desktop with explicit limits
The release notes add installation of single-file, full-stack TypeScript plugins, composer references to plugins and connected accounts, optional source-bound Generative UI views and background event monitoring. This is an extension of the desktop workflow rather than a claim that every task can finish autonomously.
Its security documentation makes an important distinction: enabled extensions are trusted code, not sandboxed code. The built-in agent’s confined command modes restrict filesystem writes, but do not isolate all file reads or network access. Task context can reach the selected provider, and native Computer Use requires Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions. External engines retain their own execution controls.
The published packages are an Apple-silicon macOS DMG and ZIP. The project says they are Developer ID signed and notarized; public Linux desktop packages remain experimental rather than part of this release. Installation consists of downloading the release, moving wuu.app to Applications and connecting a provider or account.
For developers comparing agent desktops, the useful change is the combination of an inspectable local workflow with more account and extension choices. AITrending checked the English release, matching source documentation and package listings, but has not installed Wuu or independently tested login, recovery, plugin execution or its benchmark claims.
