Abu timeline

Abu is a standalone desktop assistant for macOS and Windows, inspired by the Cowork workflow. It is not a Claude Code plugin or a language model. Users choose a model provider, configure credentials, or connect local Ollama models. The project documents file, shell, browser and MCP tools, with selectable permission modes.

The October 27 v0.60.0 release introduces experimental workflow apps, goal conversations that continue across successive rounds, and reviewable file changes with bounded undo. The source is offered under Apache 2.0; the README separately describes a licensed enterprise edition. Cloud model access can incur provider charges. On Windows, the project explicitly says shell containment is advisory and there is no operating-system-enforced sandbox.
