Qwen Code timeline

Qwen Code is an Apache-2.0-licensed agent application that connects to model providers rather than being a model itself. Its README documents OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and Qwen protocols, including compatible local endpoints. The npm installation requires Node.js 22 or newer; provider authentication and model charges are separate.

Version 0.25.2 documents experimental Mods that can register commands and intercept existing tools in trusted headless main sessions. They support a selected subset of Claude Mod contracts, not general compatibility with every Claude plugin. This version excludes TUI, ACP, managed/SSH, sandbox and session-agent entry points from Mod execution.
