Older Gemini options out, Argon labels in

Antigravity users are reporting an awkward gap in Google’s coding-agent lineup: older Gemini options have disappeared, while Gemini 4 Argon names are reportedly already inside the new client. The combination is fueling speculation that Argon could be approaching an Antigravity rollout, though no reviewed official announcement confirms that timing.

In an English Reddit post published October 12 at 22:34 UTC, Mad-Dog-UA said Gemini 3.1 Pro, Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.7 Flash had shown “Leaving Soon” notices before disappearing from the app’s picker and CLI list. The author says Gemini 3.8 Flash is the only Gemini family left in that list, not the only model from any provider. Other commenters also report losing access to older Gemini options, including a self-described Pro subscriber who says 3.1 Pro is gone.

The author’s accompanying analysis compares agy models output from October 8 and October 13 and describes in-app notices directing users to Gemini 3.8 Flash. These are account-level observations from the author and commenters; they do not establish that every account, subscription tier or region has the same roster, or that the models have been retired from all Google products.

What the community build analysis found

The same author reports that the official Antigravity desktop build 2.23.0 contains gemini-4-argon, gemini-4-argon-low, gemini-4-argon-medium and gemini-4-argon-high, plus the display labels “Gemini 4 Argon (Low)”, “(Medium)” and “(High)”. Their analysis says these strings were absent from build 2.22.0 and provides a command to repeat the search on the language-server binary.

Google’s changelog confirms that desktop version 2.23.0 was released on October 12. The release notes describe permissions controls, a full-screen media viewer and archive attachments; they do not announce Gemini 4 access. AITrending has not independently repeated the binary comparison. The Reddit post and the Windows 10 Support write-up are the same author’s evidence, not two independent discoveries.

The labels are a plausible sign of client integration work. They are not proof that the backend will offer Argon immediately, that all users will receive it, or that removing older models was specifically done to make room for it. The author says Argon was not offered to their account in the app or CLI at the time of writing.

Google’s documentation still shows the older models

Google’s English Antigravity model documentation, checked October 13, still lists Gemini 3.1 Pro, 3.6 Flash, 3.7 Flash and 3.8 Flash across the documented plan columns. That discrepancy is important: the public documentation does not yet corroborate a universal removal. The reviewed changelog supplies no explanation for the reported roster change or date for Argon’s Antigravity availability.

An Antigravity debut, not Gemini 4’s first announcement

Google already announced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, beginning with trusted cyber defenders through its Fairwind Program and outlining later access for developers, enterprises and consumers. The new question is when it becomes usable inside Antigravity, not whether Google has ever announced the model.

For now, the concrete news is the reported loss of familiar Gemini choices and the community’s discovery of Argon labels in a newly released client. A selectable Argon option, an official access announcement or a reproducible account-roster check would establish the next stage. The original English Reddit post and comments were read through its public RSS feed because the normal page presented a human-verification challenge. X API access was unavailable; this report does not claim comprehensive X coverage.
